"The Secret Mansion" by Tia W, Age 9, Class 5sp

***************************
The Secret Mansion

On my street there is a turning. It is a turning that no-one drives down. I had always been curious of this turning as I wanted to know what was at the end of it. Once me and my friends got too curious and we travelled down the road. Just before we went someone had told us that a rumour was going around about the road that there was a haunted mansion on the end of it but despite that we still wanted to see for sure...

"The Ghostly Diary" by Tia W, Age 9, Class 5sp

The Ghostly Diary

Dear Diary,

Today was extremely bizarre. I went down for breakfast and suddenly I was levitated into the air and moved around the room. It was exhilarating. I couldn’t believe it. It was a breathtaking experience. But It was scary at the same time! I must go now as it is very late.

"My Secret Place" by Tia W, Age 9, Class 5sp

*******************************
Tia has created a setting for a book. Like in many classic tales & myths another secret world is hidden from everyone except the main character.

My Secret Place

At the bottom of my garden I have my tree house. My tree house is just a normal tree house. It's quite boring really, that is from the outside. On the inside it is my secret place. I am the only one who can see the things in my secret place. If you looked inside all you would see is a plastic table and chairs, but when I look inside I see a beautiful open land with flowing rivers and rows of colourful, sweet smelling flowers and clear blue skies. It is a perfect place to go if you want to get away from your troubles or just have peace and quiet.

"The History of the Vikings" by Sarah N, Age 8, Class 4

*****************************
THE HISTORY OF THE VIKINGS

One breezy winter’s day a wise old priest stood gazing longingly at the deep misty water. His name was Johnson and he had grey curly hair. All of a sudden a tatty and battered ship came sailing along like a snake heading towards its prey. The sea suspicly waved to and fro forcing the boat to swerve. Then CRASH it landed! The strange visitors leaped out of the boat and galloped across the pebbly shore.
What they will do now we don’t know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Welcome to the Haunted House" by Sarah N, Age 8, Class 4

*****************************
WELCOME TO THE HAUNTED HOUSE!

Step in through the old gates,
Be as quiet as a mouse,
We’re going to sneak,
And take a peek,
Inside the haunted house!

Ghosts hoot in the hallway.
Ghouls lurk on the stairs.
Imps and spirits
Have pillow fights
To catch you’re unawares!

An empty piece of armour
Clanks loudly down the hall.
A wizard bakes
Revolting cakes
You wouldn’t like at all!

So, now you’ve had a quick peek
Be as quiet as a mouse.
And tiptoe out
While you still can-
Escape the haunted house!!!!

"The Whisper" by Tia W, Age 9, Class 5sp

Old buildings have lots of history and sometimes there are myths and legends about ghosts that reside in them. In these tales the ghosts themselves may form part of the building's history. Tia has written a story based on this idea:
*********************************
The Whisper

I waited silently. I knew the sound, it was common in my old house. The spirits and ghosts whisper constantly. Once I tried to find where the sounds were coming from. I was guessing the cellar as it's somewhere I was forbidden to go. My Mother and Father said I couldn't because they didn't know what was down there. That made me all the more curious. Eventually my curiosity got the better of me and as I edged open the creaky cellar door I was pulled with an almighty force into the darkness ...
